One of the key focus areas of Home For Every Child is supporting families to be the permanency that kids need who are unable to live with their biological families.

We can't do this without the support of the community.
Partner with us to equip foster, adoptive and kinship families with the resources they need to thrive and take care of their kids over the long-term.
Family Support Grants
Overview:
Partnerships with private donors and corporate sponsors allow us to provide this important avenue of ministry to vulnerable kids and their families. As such, our ability to say 'YES' to families' requests depends on the level of support that we receive during a given season. The purpose of our family support program is to assist families in overcoming the barriers to accessing the needed services which enable them to care well for their children over the long term. The mandate of our charity is to support children with 'special needs' and 'Canadian families of moderate means.'

Our support grants operate under an 80/20 support model where we will partner with families seeking support to cover up to 80% of the cost of the services they are requesting. We want families to be empowered, invested and to take ownership in accessing their family's needed services.

Eligibility:
Being as we are re-starting our family support program from ground zero, and have limited funds to start with, we are going to narrow down the focus of the family support program for summer/fall 2024. This is our intended focus:
A) Help families to access assessments for their adopted/foster children where they otherwise would:
-
be unable to get their child assessed or
-
have to wait >6 months for a critical assessment,
and where we agree that getting the assessment done in a timely manner is critical for the child receiving necessary intervention support services (assessment is a barrier to getting critical intervention in a timely manner).
B) Help families to access attachment & trauma-focused, parent-involved counseling for their family and/or foster/adopted children where:
-
finance are a hurdle to a family/child accessing an appropriate counselor,
-
the financial burden of continued, necessary counseling is becoming critical for the family, or
-
substantial travel cost is required to access counseling services.
Our preference is to see families work with TBRI-trained counselors, but we will approve others provided that their methods align with the TBRI methodology.
C) Help families to access respite where:
-
the family is nearing or at a state of crisis and respite is required, or
-
finances are a barrier to accessing respite.

Family Support Grants are only open to:
-
Canadian children/families
-
Foster/Adoptive/Kinship families
-
Requests which match one of our 3 focus areas identified above
